Not like the southern schools you see where greek organizations have mansions with their letters on them. Wish they would do that though and make it more genuine, but its jmu. The cops and the school hate greek life but I still recommend joining.

Greek life is a Joke here. Don’t see why JMU is building up when relations with Greek students and students in general and Harrisonburg/JMU is terrible. Tier system is real and without national fraternity housing you just gotta go for top for frats. Srats are all the same...hot and stuck up. Very inclusive people all together

Although i am currently in Greek life, if i were an incoming freshman i wouldn’t waste my money joining a sorority or fraternity anymore. Greek life at JMU used to be so fun but it’s dropped so much in the last semester that I’m actually not even looking forward to next semester. It’s just a bunch of uptight people and uptight rules now.

going through it i got to see how it all works and theres more to be recognized at JMU. the school is trying to get rid of all greek life so the students have many pseudo-frats and then the existing frats are just treated like the god-tier parties which works out great for everyone because at that point everyones goal is to get sloshed

JMU Greek life is a great way to get involved on campus and in the community, but has a poor alliance with non-Greek life peers.

Greek life at JMU is overall good, just the housing sucks and it's fairly small. Being in greek life doesn't make or break your experience at JMU, all I can say is it has personally made my JMU experience great (but everyone is different)
