Rhodes College is a small liberal arts school in Memphis, Tennessee, and the Greek system there is a genuinely central part of campus social life. Rush and recruitment at a school this size tends to feel more personal than what you'd see at a big state university. You're not walking through massive houses with hundreds of strangers — it's a smaller pool and the process moves accordingly. Formal recruitment exists for Panhellenic chapters, while IFC chapters generally run a more informal process during the fall semester.

Rhodes chapters don't have traditional on-campus Greek Row housing in the way that larger schools do. Social events tend to happen off campus or in chapter spaces spread across the surrounding area. Memphis itself factors into that — there's a city right outside the gates, and Greek social events often extend into it.

Philanthropy is taken seriously across chapters here. Community service and fundraising events are regular fixtures on the Greek calendar, which fits with the broader culture at Rhodes around civic engagement and community involvement. The school's emphasis on service carries over into how Greek organizations present themselves and operate throughout the academic year.
