Comment:  As a member of DG, I care a lot about this sorority and honestly hate seeing it go downhill more every year. I think a big part of the problem is that we’ve become way too focused on taking large numbers during recruitment instead of being more selective about who actually fits DG and what we stand for. When there’s no real cohesiveness in a new member class, it makes it harder for girls to make genuine friendships and feel connected to the chapter. I think that’s part of why we’ve had so many drops and so many girls go excused recently. More members does not automatically mean a stronger chapter. I really think DG can recover, but we need to be more intentional during recruitment. We should be more careful with bump groups and who we are putting out to represent the chapter. I also think we need to focus on recruiting girls who are confident, have self-respect, are socially aware, polished, and able to represent the chapter well. First impressions matter, especially during recruitment and in things like the sisterhood video. I’m not trying to be rude or harsh — I’m saying this because I genuinely care about DG and don’t want to see it continue struggling in the future.
