"old row" is just a reference to a budweiser sponsored party that a lot of the houses participate in. it does not refer to those chapters being actually on campus longer or being "older" than the others. although in general the houses that do participate in the "old row" sponsorship stuff happen to be many of the houses that have been around a good while and have a lot of local membership. other old houses, like zeta and adpi, are not involved with it because of their national's policy. for sororities, the only real distinction on age is "first circle" which are the first three houses on campus that have been on campus uninterrupted to today. adpi was actually the first, but something happened with them at some point a long time ago that keeps them from being considered first circle. not sure what. it may be that they were not here as adpi in the very beginning, but instead derived from a local sorority and then changed the name to adpi later.
