While Rho Chis are SUPPOSED to be 100% neutral and Panhellenic because they're disaffiliated during recruitment, this is NOT always the case. More often than not, if you give a very good or a very bad impression, they are going to discuss it with their sisters (and potentially even sisters of other chapters whom they're friends with, especially if you say something extremely negative-or positive- about that house). So, yes, if you say that you just loooove ABC and your Rho Chi is an XYZ, and she knows they're interested in you, she will probably tell her sisters that you want ABC and you will likely be cut from XYZ. Or, she might tell the ABC girls that you said negative things about them (even if you didn't) so they will cut you so XYZ gets another shot with you. If you say negative things about a house your Rho Chi has friends in, she will probably pass that info along to them, and you'll likely be cut. If you're extremely rude, she may tell her friends in all chapters and then you could be cut from every house. If you go to her for advice about who to rank where on your MRABA (pref card), keep in mind she may have ulterior motives then as well. We've seen these scenarios play out every year. Of course, not ALL Rho Chis are like this; the majority just want to help, but you never know. Because of that, I would be very friendly and sweet to your Rho Chi (act like she's an active, because she is), but I would just make small talk and ask GENERAL info about recruitment.
