It’s time to start putting out your feelers. Ask your teachers and counselors if they were in a sorority. Ask your male teachers if their wives or girlfriends were in a sorority. Ask your parents if they have any friends or co-workers who were in a sorority. Ask co-workers, church members, neighbors, etc. Now is not the time to be shy. Start keeping a list of names and the houses with which these women are affiliated. Around spring break, start working on your social resume and get your photos ready ( accurate photos, not highly retouched). Then, start emailing/ calling your contacts and ask them if they would be willing to write you a rec. They might need to meet with you ( most likely over FaceTime these days) to get to know you better and answer questions. Be sure to send them your pictures and social resume in whatever format they prefer ( hard copy or pdf’s). After you have your list, if you have any blanks, it’s time to start reaching out to local alumnae chapters in your area ( the closer, the better). Again, expect to have to meet with these women. It was a great experience for me to get to do these interviews for practice for recruitment and I highly enjoy doing them now that I’m on the other side. Most alumna only do a few recs per season, as they are time consuming. Some alumna may have never written a rec, especially if they’re not from the south. That’s why you need to have your stuff together ( back in 2015 we sent packets by mail and pdf files) to help your writer. And, don’t forget to send a HANDWRITTEN thank you note by MAIL!!! The thank you note does two things- it thanks them for their time and it reminds them to finish sending the rec if it’s sitting in their drafts. Good luck!
