i just went through old papers to find a sheet my house gave me of the chapter finances. so this is a breakdown of first semester for a new member: - the largest amount goes to facility fees, second largest goes to meals, third largest goes to new member dues, fourth goes to usage fees, fifth goes to initiation fees, and then theres a small panhellenic fee. all this came out to 3.4k however second semester was significantly less because in my house there was a facility fee you needed to pay again, i think my house just lumps both semesters together at once at the beginning of the school year: - the largest amount goes to meals, second largest goes to member dues, and third goes to usage fees. all this came out to 2.2k this is just MY house and keep in mind my sorority is on the lower end. i know other sororities have other fees and stuff so take this with a grain of salt. sororities are costly. and i totally understand why some parents are extremely apprehensive about it because, to be completely fair, it is kind of hard to justify spending 3k-4k a semester just to be a part of a social organization but that's for you and your parents to decide.
