I think the dilemma is that if a girl is on a high scholarship, it clearly means that she is smart, and has a good GPA and ACT. But the question raised is "if she's so smart, why doesn't she go to a more academically prestigious school?" The proposed answer is that the girl can't afford a different school, and chose Bama because of financial factors. Therefore, I understand how some people would think that being on scholarship means you're "poor." However, as a greek girl on full scholarship, I chose Bama because I fell in love when I toured. The program for my major is great, and I love the student involvement opportunities and atmosphere of school spirit. My tuition being free was a total perk, but wasn't the deciding factor. I hope that this idea that being on scholarship is a bad thing dissipates because 1) It isn't true most of the time, and 2) it portrays UA in a bad light, since they're assuming that smart people shouldn't go to Bama.
