Having the most members does not make a sorority "strong" nationally. For example, some of the sororities on your list are known for never closing chapters - even weak or problematic ones. This tends to mean having less engaged alumnae even if there are a lot of them. Others on your list have a gazillion chapters at tiny schools. Those sororities don't tend to have major alumnae presence in larger cities. Whereas the stronger, better organized sororities may have 3+ active alumnae chapters in major cities (a junior group for recent grads, a daytime group for moms, and a suburban group for those who live further out) PLUS a group that supports the philanthropy year-round PLUS an advisory team for the local collegiate chapters, sororities with less engaged/ organized alumnae may have just 1 alumnae group trying to juggle everything.
