Once the new parking deck is completed in Aug. 2018, the construction of the new Tutwiler Hall will begin. The new dorm will be built on the Southwest corner of the site and will be able to house around 1,500 residents, a major upgrade from the 980 residents it houses now. As University attendance is only expected to increase in the coming years, the new Tutwiler’s augmented occupancy is a key reason why the Board of Trustees wanted it built. New Tutwiler is scheduled to be ready for residents in Aug. 2020, when the old Tutwiler hall will be leveled.
