I think your header makes perfect sense. Take disaffiliation seriously and really practice the Panhellenic values you are preaching. So many rho chis are biased towards their houses or biased AGAINST other houses. Let girls figure out where they want to go organically and remember that what is best for them may not be what's best for you. Your job is to help them decide what to do. Not decide for them because you have different opinions on different houses. Dealing with girls that have been dropped from recruitment is the hardest part and so heartbreaking. It's never an easy thing to navigate and my fingers are crossed that you won't have to do it, but I'm not sure what the numbers look like at your school. Let the PNM be upset, let her be angry... Just let her feel her feelings and then be there for her as she decides what to do moving forward. Girls who want to suicide... oh, boy. This is the part where you really have to draw on the Panhellenic stuff I mentioned above. Remind them that when pledge classes have so many girls in them, you are bound to find a solid group you get along with, no matter what. You will get the sisterhood, the swaps, the lifetime membership, etc. It's ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry so it's ALWAYS better to not suicide. For me this was the hardest part but just do your best to be persuasive. So many girls end up happier in their 2nd/3rd choice than they would have been in their 1st. Anyways, good luck!!
