idk if it necessarily works. sometimes if actives know of a pnm from their hometown that they didn't necessarily like they try to act like their sorority really wants them but then they'll drop them during rush. it's mean and petty but it happens. also it definitely gets pnms thinking of their sorority. if a pnm is getting a bunch of love from actives she's going to go tell all her friends and it creates this big appeal and sense of wontedness.
