Coming from someone in more rural ga, me and other people have considered “Atlanta” and metro Atlanta from griffin, over to Newnan, douglasville, up to Alpharetta, ***ming, over to winder, Covington and McDonough. This is what WE consider “metro” Atlanta. We can draw a circle on a map of it. These areas just tend to be more populated and not rural like a lot of the rest of Georgia, so it all just kinda runs together.
