If you didn't get many houses back after round 1 then I would say one of two things. Either your GPA is not strong that they saw you as a GPA risk or the more likely issue was that your conversations weren't as good as you think. Rush is like speed dating, you only have a few minutes to make an impression and if your conversations were just average then that is not enough when other girls conversations were more memorable. Focus on your conversational skills. I wouldn't count on having friends in a house, they are only one voice out of many. Hoping that one friend is going to get you all the way through will most likely not work.
