I think you're missing the point. Yes, PNMs knew that this is how Indiana recruitment works when they signed up, and yes the majority of people who rush and don't get into houses are because they dropped out, not because they were cut entirely, but the whole "only allowing a certain number of girls" thing each chapter does is not how the rest of the world does sorority recruitment. That's why Alabama's PCs are so large - if they could just decide to have a PC of 50 girls every year, they definitely would. Between that predetermination and the intense tier system at IU, it's easy to understand why many PNMs feel this heartbroken over their placement or experience. Obviously every PNM should be thankful for whatever chapter they got back, but we should also be sympathetic to the fact that IU does recruitment in a deliberately cutthroat way and makes it unnecessarily difficult on PNMs.
