To PNMs: it’s tempting to obsess over the rankings you see online, but they don’t actually show you what being in a chapter feels like. Every house has its own strengths. Some are more social, some have great philanthropies, some are super close-knit. None of that is captured by tiers. What matters most during recruitment is how you show up. Be yourself and talk to your recruiter with confidence. They’re nervous too, and they’re supposed to guide the conversation, but it makes a huge difference if you’re open and share a lot about yourself. If you don’t feel a connection in a round, don’t be mean or shut down. That just comes across as rude. Stay respectful, be grateful for the opportunity, and wait until it’s time to rank to sort out your true preferences.
