I think APhi is in transition. They want to improve but not at the cost of not being the “hot, party house”. Their class is confusing. They lost a lot of girls to pi phi (more than usual) and then this year they also tried to go for the “sweeter, wholesome” girls and lost a bunch to DG. They have never really competed with DG before and it hurt them overall this year because the house is just a little too “much” for your traditional DG girl. half their class is typical alpha phi hot, party girls (they are lucky pi phi did huge cuts this year) and the other half are girls that would be in the middle houses since they had to go far down their bid list. Pi phi also went a little deeper down the list than they wanted but it was because attrition to DG. Pi phi might have had the best rush/return overall again this year (as they have no problem telling every one) but DG improved the most versus prior years. I think they passed APhi this year, but one year doesn’t change ranks. However, both pi phi and a phi will be in trouble if dg keeps on the same trend.
