There are some sororities that have a national policy that you must have a rec in order to get a bid. What happens there though is the chapter has alumnae on call to write recommendations for those PNMs the chapter likes who get to the point where they know they will need one (like right before preference.) This is not something you should worry about. A lot of members don't even know about this policy or that it happens in their chapter. It's all behind the scenes stuff. HOWEVER, it is important to secure as many recommendations from people who really know you that you can. They give sororities a really good picture of who you are beforehand and help us get to know you best and make you comfortable by pairing you with members who share similar interests etc. especially in the early rounds. They can really help. Keep an open mind. Try to relax. Good luck!
