It can but not always. Some houses are more wary of engineering majors, they have the tendency to drag GPA down.

Man -- hard to understand why some houses are so hyper competitive on gpa like that. Makes me want to take the top quartile of houses on the gpa rank and just cut them out of principle.

I'm a current freshman who plans to rush this fall as a sophomore (missed rush because I was involved in honors college that week). I made Dean's list last semester and hope to this semester too, involved in campus groups, but I'm an engineering major. I hope the houses at least consider me and don't cut me because of my major. I've shown I can do well at least.

It's more oh her gpa wasn't great in high school, will she be able to handle the demands of being an engineering major? But since you've already shown you can handle it, you're good to go

Shoot, half the girls that went through rush last year are in Honors College it seems. They were able to do both- so you may want to be prepared to explain more about why you missed recruitment in fall 2015.

It's not being in honors college that made rush impossible, but having signed up to do the honors college outdoor action/alabama action/blackbelt experience programs that went all day during the same week as rush. Besides myself, I know of 2 other girls that missed rush because we had already signed up for one of those programs. We all hope to rush this coming fall.
