will i get into a house
by: JuniorI'm transferring as a junior, but am going to be a 5th year senior, hold a 2.95 GPA due to a bad hiking accident preventing me from going to classes for a month, do I have a chance of getting a bid to a sorority? During recruitment would I just tell them why my GPA is so low or do they not care?

trying to be completely honest here so sorry if it is harsh. Grades are one of the first things houses start dropping people on and you probably wont get a chance to explain yourself and if you do, they see thousands of girls and will likely forget. being a junior and a transfer is a bit of a double whammy. You might be able to pull it off if you already know and are close with the right people in a house but even then, the decision doesn't rest on just one person. There are a ton of great organizations on campus and I promise you will find a home even if it doesn't have greek letters. I'm sorry because I know this isn't what you wanted to hear but I would hate to get your hopes up and then be clueless and hurt when you get released from recruitment. If you meet the right people and make the right friends your first semester you might be able to get a COB bid in their house. SDT and ADX are a little less formal and all the girls I know in those sororities wouldn't trade it for the world so they are something to consider if you can compromise with them being a little less formal or traditional compared to the other houses. I hope this helped and either way we're glad you chose UA!
