I can safely say that no house would want someone with this mentality. There is absolutely no way to fake a legacy. As for getting recs it isn't that hard if you put effort into it. Think friends moms, your parents friends, adult women at your church, job, hell my favorite high school teacher wrote me a rec . Don't ask random people but just express your interest in rushing to any and all adult women in your life that you are close to. Something tells me that's too much work for you.

I realize that it's easy to look up legacies to see if someone was a member of a sorority but do the chapters actually contact every single legacy member to verify the relationship?
Like for example if I knew 'Jane Doe' from my hometown was a member of 'Alpha Beta' sorority, could I get away with saying I'm an Alpha Beta legacy and Jane Doe is my stepmom (which explains the different last name)? Just wondering.

Unless the PNM is constantly talking about being a legacy, only liking her legacy sorority, I don't think it hurts at all. If anything, it shows that she's not tied to her legacy and is willing to give the other houses a chance. Being a legacy is more neutral if you ask me.
