letters of recommendation and spring teas
by: Confused PNMHi guys! So, I have some questions regarding spring teas specifically how they relate to the Letters of Rec. My mom was in a sorority, so we figured that we would sort of know how to get through recruitment. We were wrong! It turns out the rushing 20 years ago up north is totally different ;) I know that I need 2 letters of rec for each house, but we do not know when to send them. I have heard different things- some say to send them early (January or February) so that you can be placed on invite lists for spring teas and others say to wait until April or May after spring teas. Is there an optimal time? And, if I decide to wait until May, how to I get placed on the invite lists?

You can register with UA Panhellenic to get invitations to the spring parties. Go here: www.memberplanet.com/s/panhellenicexecboard/2016fallrecruitm entinterestform
Right now, you need to be finding and making contacts for each sorority on UA's campus (except for ADX and SDT, which don't do August recruitment). Keep a list or make a spreadsheet! When I write a rec, I like to have a complete transcript (with final grades), photo(s), and resume. I would not send a rec until I have those, which would be after graduation.
But because there are so many girls going through recruitment, many are getting them out early to their rec writers, and then sending final transcripts and resumes as an update. Earlier recs could get you on the sororities' radar earlier.
Definitely send them BEFORE July 1. July 15 is panhellenic's suggested deadline, but many want them before July 1. It's a LOT of paperwork to process!
