They recruit just for looks and that's the big reason why they aren't a top house. Or a middle house. Or even at the top of the bottom tier.
The shallowest people at Bama will get on here and tell you they're HOT, but most pnms are looking for more than that since all the houses have hot girls.

The trouble with your analysis is that girls are not jealous of Alpha Phi. Virtually every girl, even those in the houses that are listed as bottom ones on this site, cut Alpha Phi at some point in recruitment. Yes, DGs did, Thetas did, Gamma Phis did. Hotness is what other girls are looking for. Girls who are put together are one thing. Girls who are overly made up, overly bleached, overly tanned, etc.liked the A Phis have trouble recruiting (they're having to do cob because they're so far below total). It's fine for guys to want to hook up with them and everyone understands. What you don't seem to understand is that most girls aren't going for a bunch of hookups with drunk fraternity guys. Relationships - yes. Hookups with drunks - no.

^agreed. Also what people who don't go to bama or aren't from the south don't realize is that just being hot doesn't give you "top house" status. While that may be the deal in the Midwest or in California, we use a much wider range of criteria. My sorority has a transfer from a school in California, and she will tell you that the legally blonde film crew could have come and filmed in her sorority house and the scenes would have hardly been different. No thanks.

Boys, boys, boys, that's always the excuse I hear. "Well if you ask boys at bama-" Guess what, I'm not asking boys. I do not exist to be their plaything and that is the difference between me and alpha phi.

The OP asked if they were a top house and to answer the question, to a lot boys they are. Whether you like it or not, that's reality. Social is a huge part of Greek life and orgs priorities differ greatly amongst each other. Which is a good thing! That's how we all find our right fit.

Boys don't get a vote because they vote with something other than their heads. But I will say they don't invite A Phis to big parties - only the informal booty call parties.

makes me laugh. It has to be an alpha pi trying to make their house look better. Just stop Alpha Pi and work on your involvement, grades, sisterhood and events. That is what make a top tier house. This is the south and the traditions and views of what makes a great house require more work than just being what you call (cough cough) hot.
