greek life
by: HS SeniorI just got accepted yesterday into The University of Alabama and i'm really interested in Greek life. My mom was a zeta tau alpha, so I was wondering what they're like here. Thanks!

I know sooo many girls who got cut from their mom's legacy house this year. Don't expect being a legacy to get you any further than second round at that house. You really have to have an open mind and be grateful wherever you get a bid. It's really competitive here. Most of the Zetas I know are nice though, but yah, bad GPA and maybe no house next year either, not sure. Good luck.

Pretty party girls. Haven't liked the ones I've met but that doesn't mean they're all bad. Who knows though just because that's not me doesn't mean you wouldn't enjoy it. They're not a bad house just a little more party oriented than most I'd say. Or at least more out there about it.

They're pretty party girls who are a mix of sweet and sour. They're definitely one of the top sororities guys want to party with on campus, so their popularity is pretty much up there with the "Old Row" sororities, along with the other "New Row" sororities Pi Phi and Alpha Phi (for various reasons). The only reason they aren't more highly respected is because they're currently off campus and the girls, from what I've experienced over my past few years, don't really care about campus involvement as much as the other sororities I'd put above them. For example: they generally don't do well in homecoming due mostly to a lack of trying, though an "Old Row" house usually wins every year anyway, and compared to Tri Delt, Alpha Chi, Phi Mu, etc.., they don't have as many reps in student government/judiciary board. Their grades are also relatively low, but from what I've heard that'll jump up this year.

Be grateful and have an open mind. All of the houses are wonderful. And ZTA's website it looks like house will be completed November, but I've heard they will take over PM swing house sometime spring 2016.
