About what percentage of sophomores actually get bids during fall rush?

Many do! Just try to make as many genuine friends as you can in houses this year. I wasn't aware how crutial this was. Be sure you have a great resume and have rec letters for every house. Be yourself, but be bubbly and outgoing. Many girls have successful recruitments as sophomores, I just wasn't fortunate enough but looking back these are things I would've done differently! Goodluck!

If you went through recruitment as a freshman and were dropped, the odds aren't in your favor that you will get a bid the second time. If you turned a bid down or quit your sorority, forget it, you are effed. if you are a transfer or haven't rushed before though, you stand a chance of getting a bid.

So as someone who has never gone through recruitment and has a decent amount of Greek friends (not particularly close ones though) is it a reasonable idea to rush as a sophomore or would I probably be dropped?

Some sororities simply do not take sophomores unless they have a personal friend(s) in the house who can pull for them.
But many do take sophomores.
Make sure your have good grades - 3.4 or above. And realize that some will simply not consider you because you're a sophomore and those are going to be the most "in demand" sororities. When you're an upperclassman, don't think ANY sororities are beneath you.
Your situation is more "do I want to be Greek or not," rather than "which Greek do I want to be."

And GET RECS. Those are NOT optional!

thought every house had to take a certain amount of upperclassmen? 7 at least or something like that?

Me and my best friend both rushed as sophomores and ended up at "top tier" houses. She had friends pulling for her but I didn't. Anything is possible if you're willing to work for it! Get recs and put your best self forward

@I, ok, so quota this year was 120 freshman and 7 upperclassmen, for a total of 127. However, while taking freshman quota (if possible, and every house did this year) is pretty much mandatory as far as our Nationals are concerned, sororities do NOT have to take upperclassmen quota-they had the opportunity to take up to 7 uoperclassmen this year (and maybe a few more due to QAs), but they can choose to take 0, 3, 5, or 7 and it doesn't "penalize" them in Nationals' eyes. Of course, it is encouraged, and many houses do take a few upperclass girls, but it's not a "requirement" like it is for freshman.

Every house takes upperclassmen! Get involved on campus and pad up that resume with activities and good grades.
