sophomore rush

by: Pls send help

Im a freshman this year and really regret not rushing. I'm thinking about doing fall rush as a sophomore next year. Would I have a good shot or should I not bother? I'm OOS (another southern state), really involved on campus, honors student, and know a lot of girls in sororities but am not very close with any of them. Realistically, would I have a good chance at getting a bid and is rushing as a sophomore as difficult as everyone says?

Depends. Are you going to insist that only a handful of certain sororities are worthy of your presence? You may have a hard time. Focus on getting to know women in ALL the various sororities. Not just meet once, but try to get to know them a bit through classes, at the dorm, club meetings. Get involved in two or three activities and get to know those involved.
After Christmas break, some of the sororities will COB. You might want to go ahead and sign up and possibly pledge. And no. 1, get great grades.
it's do-able.

I'm definitely open to any sorority. I've thought about doing COB in the spring but I'm worried that not many sororities will do it, and I want to make sure I find the one that I genuinely fit in best. Are a lot of sororities doing COB this year, or which ones do you think?

Sorry to tell you but you're not going to have tons of choice even if you wait until fall. Maybe less than if you look at cob this spring. By next fall you'll be a year older than the entering class and not very many houses will take an interest in you. Only if you've already really bonded with this year's freshman and they have enough pull to get you in.

So are you saying it's basically hopeless?

If you do fall rush you'll have more options but you better make best friends with the girls in the sororities you like or you have no chance.

I always advise C.O.B. because it gives you another opportunity to pledge. You don't want to risk not getting a bid in the fall because some people look down on C.O.B. and/or spring rush. Every house does this at one time or another, although not all houses every year. It's nothing to be ashamed of, especially if you get what you want....a bid! GOOD LUCK!

I was thinking about COB as well. When does this typically happen? Like what's the standard timeline for submitting the form, attending events, receiving bids, etc?

Do only bottom tier sororities do COB typically? I know that sounds harsh but be honest.

If you are asking about "bottom tier sororities," it looks to me like you don't have the character necessary to appreciate the true benefit of sororities -- sisterhood. Only socially "nouveau riche" would be awkward enough to ask such a thing.

I wasn't asking that to say that they aren't good enough for me, I was genuinely wondering which "type" of sororities typically participate in that they are considered stereotypical top or bottom. Everyone knows there is a stereotypical too and bottom; doesn't mean the girls aren't as good. But thanks for the rude response. Really helpful.

You'd be lucky to get a COB from any house.

I agree. ONCE AGAIN I'm not saying they aren't good enough I would love to be pet of any sisterhood I'm asking if the ones that typically participate are considered by most as "bottom tier"
