I hope so. There are WAY more sorority women that Machine members. Sororities could band together and RULE the Machine.

The Machine decides who will be HC Queen (or at least, who everyone should vote for). If a group votes against what the Machine wants, life can become very difficult for that group pretty quick. Hence the push back referenced above.

It's pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that the Phi Mu girl is the machine backed candidate. You're either a really oblivious, oos freshman or someone who doesn't go to Alabama if you can't recognize who the machine candidate is for any type of election. They make no effort to hide it.

Not every fraternity and sorority are in the machine. Some of us think for ourselves.

Of the sororities, bc I know someone will ask, APhi, Gamma Phi, Theta (and SDT obviously) are NOT members of the Machine. The other 13 sororities are members of the Machine and have been told to vote for the Phi Mu candidate for HC Queen. As lovely as the Alpha Gam candidate is, I would recommend that they put her up for another important title/position and go with the Phi Mu candidate for HC Queen. Just because I have a lot of AGD friends, and would hate for them (and/or the sweet girl that they've put up for Queen) to suffer the reprocussions of going against the Machine. They can be pretty awful...

AGD did not put up a candidate. She was sponsored by another group on campus. She is not the AGD candidate, she just happens to be an AGD.

Even if Alpha Gam isn't sponsoring her for HCQ, you guys will still vote for her, right? I mean she is your sister after all.. Also, if you guys do vote for this lovely young lady, will you get fined?

You don't know what you're talking about. Gamma Phi is apart of the machine and has a banner outside their house for phi mu's candidate and they all changed their profile pictures to her so get your facts right

Gamma phi and theta may choose to support whichever candidate they want- Choosing the machine candidate does not mean they are in the machine

Not every machine-run election cycles everything in a particular order. They divide stuff up and houses push to get the winner for a certain thing in a specific year depending on what they have in the house. One year it might be Queen for PM, certain SGA for say XO, DG, ZTA, then other leadership type posts for other machine houses. This is where houses like Theta lose their relevance somewhat. A different year, a handful may really want Queen and the machine decides. The houses that did not get Queen support might focus on other things. Everyone gets something they want. Its just knowing what to push for and when to back off.

There are several sororities in the machine who have not had a "turn," including some of the first invited in.
My question is why do the women put up with this?
