advice?
by: PNM
I'm rushing next year and I'm coming up to stay with my friend for a few home games this year. What are our "rules" for when we come to Tuscaloosa to visit? Should we or should we not sit in the student section, things like that? I know we should never be sloppy when we drink, and to not flirt with older guys, but should we go to the fraternity parties? Etc.
Thanks!

Ok, yes, definitely don't be sloppy when you drink (you want to show that you know how to have fun, but that you can handle your alcohol and don't turn in to a hot mess when you do drink haha), and I would recommend not flirting with (unless it's very subtle)-and definitely not hooking up with- any fraternity guy on campus, freshman or senior or in between. Just because you don't know whose ex, current bf, bio brother etc he is. If he's connected to an active sorority girl in any way, your rush could be over before it even starts. Keeping this is mind, be VERY careful if you decide to go to fraternity parties with your active friends. Be outgoing and fun, but don't cross any lines. Be aware that the sorority women at those parties will be watching you, so be friendly and genuine with them as well. Show that you're open minded to all chapters. As far as games go, follow your active friends' lead. They will know whether or not you should sit in the student section with them, and if they think its a bad idea, they will let you know.

You should absolutely not sit in the student section. Wait until it's your turn to sit in the student section. It's a student section for a reason, not a highschool section. And I would not recommend going out. I'm from bham and my friends that went out while we were seniors just recently got dropped from every single sorority. They didn't even do anything wrong, but going to frat houses as a high schooler just is not good. Like I said, your time will come. Wait for it.

ALL of this is GREAT advice. Read and heed it! Don't try to be cute and funny and think you're smarter than everyone and this advice holds true for most campuses across the U.S.! Also, if you think you can run wild on another campus and no one here will know you're wrong. The world is a village, you never know who is watching and/or listening and with social media every move you make is potentially front page news. Come visit, be friendly, behave and next year you will thank yourself for doing so. Wait your turn for everything else; it will be worth the wait!
