old and dependable is the opposite of new and exciting. Get it?

Like "old and dependable" means girls they already know from before and they know what they are going to get. Low risk. Easy pickins.

Just for a frame of reference, fraternities are only allowed a certain number of swaps/ fall semester. Spring semester swaps do not work as well as fall swaps and are not worth the cost. Along with buying all the beer, they also are paying registration fees and security, so the fraternities have money invested in each swap. Rightly so, they want a return on their investment, and want to have swaps with sororities they like and want to have better relations with. Therefore, certain sororities will get asked to more swaps than others. Sorry to be the Devils advocate, but the purpose of swaps is not technically to meet everyone, parties are for that. And the sororities may be "old and dependable" because they are good sororities, don't shame them just because you aren't in their position lol

I thought they were referring to old and dependable sororities.......I took it as the old and dependable fraternities will not swap with anyone but old and dependable sororities. Old=Old I simply asked who they were. I just thought swaps were an opportunity to get to know all greeks. I guess not.... I think I am glad I'm not old and dependable.

frats swap with who they want. who cares. yall were mad and said it didnt matter when people made it clear that "top" frats only hang with "top" sororities and its a good indicator on rankings but now that youre actually experiencing it in a socially bottom house youre mad and it matters? goodbye. should have listened to the realness.

its just funny bc youre complaining on this board does nothing. spend less time on greekrank and more time trying to attract girls guys want to be around. or at least the guys youre upset about not swapping with. or stop thinking youre better than the houses youre swapping with. :-)

say what you want and get all worked up but it doesnt change the fact youre not swapping with dke. esp when you blame other sororities bc your house doesnt have girls they want to swap with.

It wasn't DKE we were wondering about...... sorry.

for example DKE SAE and KA will only swap with other other old row sororites bc they are "top" and then new row houses like pi phi zeta and alpha phi bc theyre "hot" and "easy". they wont mix with houses like dg, theta, gphi.

I'm not in SAE, DKE, or KA (top tier house but not one of those three) and I don't see why they should be encouraged to swap with those bottom houses anyway.

Go ahead and down vote it, but if the sororities all want to swap with the top houses then the top houses should be able to choose who they want, that's just how things work. You know, I'm in a good fraternity but not the best, and while sometimes I wish sororities and fraternities just cycled their swap partners so I could meet them all, I'm actually just encouraged to get better pledge classes and improve myself so I'm as desirable as the Top Houses, and for a good reason, not something as shallow as "they're Old Row" or "They've always been top" (I feel like a lot of people want to swap with them because of those labels and not the fact that they generally have a ton of guys involved on campus, a slew of legacies, and more money to throw around than you can sniff).

You can argue either side but I ultimately think the way it works right now encourages fraternities and sororities alike to up their game, and at the end of the day it's beneficial to all. Let's not encourage handouts, but betterment. We're all in the Greek System for goodness sake, it's not like we can't if we don't put our minds to it.
