This is for every girl out there who has a received a bid to a "bottom tier" house and is concerned about reputation and image. Screw campus tiers, they really don't matter when there is literally thousands of members.
UA is the biggest and most competitive recruitment in the country. I don't care what chapter you're in, it's impressive enough that you got a bid. Be proud of that!
And ye maybe you feel awkward or are worried about being judged by the letters you wear, but remember that college is only 4 years. Being from ANY sorority at UA is an accomplishment and something to be proud of.

The reason to join a sorority is for the sisterhood. You can have that in ANY house if you have an open heart and open attitude.

If you read the comments on this site you'll see that lots of people with agendas are on here. The truth is that all the houses here have very similar girls. Some may have a few more party girls or a few more with challenging academic schedules. They may have a few more absolute beauties or a few more athletically talented girls. Some may have a few more girls from Alabama or a few more girls from California. Each of the houses think they're the best kept secret at Alabama because of the mix of girls in the house.
The advantage for the new members is that you will find compatible girls in every single house. If you don't party, you can be friends with the partiers but hang out with girls more like you.
Reading the comments on here may make you think that people will judge you if you are in a lower house or in the video house or in the snapchat house or whatever. Don't worry. It's a big thing on here but 99% of the greeks at Alabama have never even heard of this site. They don't care whether you are a Gamma Phi or an Alpha Chi. You will be judged for who you are and what you do. Oh, and tbh, you will be somewhat judged at least by the guys on how you look.

I agree with this statement since my neighbor went to I.U. and I've heard this elsewhere. They have small houses and living in the house used to be a requirement. Their formal rush was in the spring and sororities spent the fall semester getting to know potentials by inviting them to dinner.

Indiana's recruitment process isn't like anyone's in the SEC. Indiana has "bed rush." There is no quota. If ABC house only has room for 10 members, they only bid 10. If XYZ house has room for 40 members, they may bid 40. Because there is no quota system is what makes it very competitive. But it's really very different than any other school in the country.
(Though I would debate Ol Miss being most competitive over UA...)

He is very true. UA is by far the largest but Indiana is indeed the most competitive because they have a lot of PNMs but a much smaller number are able to get bids. It's the harsh truth.

The truth is that there are no low tier houses at UA. The houses are all top tier in their own way. There are so many ways to look at houses -- the best at attracting MB girls is how they're rated on here, but that's not the only way girls look at houses. Especially oos girls don't really care about that and they want other things. Some care about old row or first circle but others look at that as historic information but not important now.
So get in and know the girls in your house and figure out what makes them great. I guarantee you'll find that if you get out of the greek rank mindset you'll find that every house really is great.

Look it's obvious some chapters are more selective but there is a great deal of overlap between chapters. No house at Alabama that participates in formal Rush is failing. Every house has swaps,good philanthropy etc. enjoy your four years in Tuscaloosa great town great Greek system great university.

Go with what your heart tells you and where you feel you fit in. You will then have a happy four years. It's about today and your experiences now, not the past or the future.
And I agree, most actives and pnms don't read this site. And, there are a lot of unhappy folks trolling here.
