So many of you really have no clue about how this marketing game is being played today. If you really think the IHQ didn't know about this video in advance you don't know how chapter advising works. Everyone is talking about alpha phi, saying their name, saying their name correctly, and in "the south" where they barely had a presence a decade ago.

Exact same post on another thread, so I'll post my comment/question here as well:

Well (@IHQ) if that was there plan all along, to get their name out there and accepting the good with the bad, then this whole media event is a non-issue to them, correct? Not meant to be snarky. Real question because everyone has implied that IHQ is panicked and/upset.

So as far as anyone can tell, the first real negative piece that came out on this video was published by AL.com from their guest writer, A.L. Bailey. The Today Show and FOX have both referenced the original column in their coverage. Wonder if this A.L. Bailey will grant any television interviews now that it's become a national news story?

since initial negative piece originated in tuscaloosa (AL.com), i wonder if the alum (just a guess) who came out hardcore to smash critics are partly responsible for the firestorm. wonder if they just allowed opposing views to be expressed on here without countering with nasty responses it would have died down. feel like they were partly responsible for keeping it in forefront.

Why would you think the author is the story? The story is about the chapter's video, not about the person who wrote the piece. Did you not ever take a journalism, English, or political science course?

You just proved my point.

Was legit question. And for the record, I do not have issue with video. My daughter knows some of the girls and says they are great girls, and how they are handling this does not match up to their supporters.

Things seem to be working in their favor now. There's now #FreeAlphaPhi trends and people outraged over the outrage of the video. What first started to be good publicity turned to bad publicity and is now turning to good again. The Alpha Phi video hate went TOO far and it was so unnecessary. People read way into a harmless video. It's been turned into a "race" thing and people are fed up with the media taking offense into everything. I'm glad to see people have their backs and are fighting back. What's even more awesome to see is that U of Alabama Greek students as a whole are coming together because we're tired of this OVERLY politically correct society and Alabama always being the bad guy (look up FSU DG, U MIAMI DG, ARIZONA APHI, etc). The video was NOT meant to be overly analyzed the way it was and was NOT the first recruitment video like this and the target audience was certainly NOT old people. High school senior girls love seeing stuff like this. We know sororities have more to offer than looks, but if you know anything about marketing this is what you do and it was just a well done FUN video. That simple. Anyways, props to you A PHI for starting a new movement and not backing down after being bullied to have everything deleted. Pan Love. One Row.

Do we want to be comparable to a FSU, U Miami, Arizona greek life?
