I'm an out of state student and don't know what the excitement over Mountain Brook High School is. Why are all sororities obsessed with getting girls from this school? Just confused because in my home state there isn't a high school that gets the fame and attention that this one seems to be getting. What type of area is it? Affluent? Thank you!!

Connections! Many houses stick with tradition, which means those that get people with old ties and work it for them. Always an exception but rare when in state. But MB are queens of insider situations and political decisions.

This year MB didn't make as big of an impact. Their cafeteria has gotten a lot better in recent history and many of the girls were quite well-fed. We can only take so many wealthy and "connected" plumpers without the needed balance of some OOS hotties.

the MB girls I know did really well in rush went to top old row houses

They slot right in but it does not mean they made a difference. There is a snob thing that goes down and takes care of most MB, Vestavia, Hoover, Spain Park and girls from other choice areas in state for old row but this is one reason why old row is having a tougher time since the oos wave hit. Not everyone anymore sees old row as prestigious Bc everyone knows half the house is hooked up by parents and high school and summer camp friends. Also girls from the top areas In state increasingly actually choosing new row. Gasp!
