snap bids

When bid matching is complete, if a house does not make quota they can snap bid up to quota. The house will get a call from Panhellenic that they are short "X" girls to quota.

Panhellenic will provide a list of PNM's who did not get bids (usually girls who were released earlier in the week or the rare occasion where a girl does not bid match and the houses she attended pref at are already at chapter total, therefore ineligible to bid her as a quota addition) and the house can decide whether to snap bid those PNM's.

If the sorority cut you earlier in the week, they won't snap bid you. If you ranked them low and did not return their invitation, then they would look at you.

Snap bids happen early on bid day and any PNM's who accept their snap bid attend Bid Day with their pledge class. No one other than the rush chair/president/advisor and the pnm will know she was a snap bid. Most chapter members will never know they initially did not make quota without the snaps.

One more note- if you "suicide" or leave any pref houses off your pref card and you don't bid match, you are NOT eligible for a snap bid, should one be offered. Another reason to fully complete that pref card with all houses!!
