Can someone please explain to me how exactly cob works? I think I may want to do it.

Call the UA Panhellenic office or Greek Affairs office after Labor Day weekend. What you do is fill out a form (often online) with your name, address, grade info and probably some other info. This is distributed to the sororities that are participating in COB. Some of them MAY call you to come have lunch, watch a movie, hang out, meet for coffee. There may or may not be more than 1 that does this. There is no deadline, and no bid day. If a sorority wants to give you a bid/invite you to become a full member, they will do it themselves - no third party.
Good news is - it's very informal and relaxed.
Bad news is - no guarantees of anything, including an invitation to hang out.

UA Panhellenic said on their Facebook today that the only groups doing COB are ADX and SDT, who do not do formal recruitment. Every other house just took roughly about 130 girls. We do not need anyone else.

I would suggest calling the Greek Affairs office to make sure. Don't rely on this siite!

^why would someone lie about that? I don't understand your reasoning. Up until last year, hardly ANYONE ever did COB. Don't expect this year to be any different unless there is another scandal.

I don't think somebody would lie, but they might not really know for sure - like you don't know for sure, you only know about your sorority.
Some groups may have pledged a lot of girls, but after a couple of weeks the ones who were in it and weren't really interested will have dropped out. Some may lose members from resignations. After Christmas break, there may be some who transfer, drop out, flunk...in short, there might be a few spots that open up.

I'm a senior...I've been here for 4 years so I think I know how it goes thank you very much. No sorority is going to take anyone this semester unless they absolutely HAVE to--especially not this late. They would have already done it in the few days right after bid day. There's a possibility that a small number of groups will take a few girls (around 4 or 5 each at most) in the spring, but that does not always happen. The OP's best bet is to wait until the Fall for formal recruitment.
