COB after rush week

Not sure if this is a legit request or not but I’ll take the bait. Google UA Panhellenic COB and there will be a list of houses that are currently participating. This list will be updated after bid day. You can also tell who did COB on the Alabama Panhellenic Spring Grade report. Any house that participated will show the total in the “new members “ column on the spring report. This only works for Spring reports as all houses have new members on the Fall Report due to rush. A house might also appear on the spring report solely due to a high number of December grads.

The grade cuts are over. It's all up to her conversations at the chapters she has left and if members connect with her then she will be asked back. If she's got the 'superficial' stuff too then that's a plus. All it takes is one, as the saying goes, and it's true. She needs to be confident and at ease with those three houses to have good conversations and show she's someone they want to have as a sister, so you can help her by lifting her up for that. I know you are trying to think ahead with a plan for the worst but that's not going to help her right now with what's right in front of her this week, so encourage her in that, and keep the cob stuff to yourself for now. Pro tip: she needs to TELL the chapter members at sisterhood that she likes their chapter. They can't read her mind and if she wants to go to their pref they need to know she wants them. And if all she ends up with at pref is one house then she's getting that bid guaranteed. It's not over yet mom.

tell your daughter to look on the house's individual pages in the back of the greek chic guide alabama gave each girl (it is also online if you want to google it). It lists the suggested GPA for each house, so this will give her an idea if she has a chance at any of the houses if they do COB.

all it takes is 1! it might seem like the end of the world now but it’ll work out. she might really like one of these 3 houses, she could COB either semester, she can re-rush as a sophomore (plenty of girls do much better their second time, my best friend in my MC did this and she was a lot more confident and got more invites) ORRR she might like life as a geed!

greek life is major here but not the end all be all!! she can focus on involvement in her major and other interests on campus. try to let go a little and let it work out the way it does 😘 best of luck!!

Coming into rush here, my grades were not impressive and I was a victim to massive cuts the first day. I had four houses afterwards, but had those four all the way until I had to cut for pref. I got my two back and got a bid from my top pick. It all worked out in the end and I have thoroughly enjoyed my sorority. I will admit, I was shook that first day, but was all smiles at the end.

Please tell her to stay positive and to keep an open mind about the houses she was invited back to. The other houses are off the table now. She may find that the houses she didn't think she wanted are a good fit. About COB, just know that if she prefs and gets a bid, she can't do COB for a year. She would have to drop first in order to COB after this rush. Also, not many houses offer COB, so it's not a sure thing anyway. Good luck!

Update: She made it to sisterhood with all 3 houses. I’m pretty sure I didn’t sleep well all night waiting for her to call me.
