Ok, I've kept quiet but I can't stay quiet any longer. Listen up PNMs, I was lucky I had a perfect recruitment. Yes I CHOSE my house. I picked all 3 houses I preffed. I chose all 8 houses the round before. DO NOT PICK A HOUSE BASED ON REPUTATION or tent talk. These are the girls who need to love you at your worst. It's not hard to like someone when they are dressed well and acting their best or when everyone is having a good time. Think back to junior high, and mean girls.... Are those the girls you want to spend 4 years with?? . These are supposed to be the girls that will support you at your worst. Choose very carefully or you will be unhappy.

Do not pledge a house based on their reputation and social pressures... You do not want to join some where were you do not feel comfortable. Each house is great, but some just aren't for people on a personal level, but you can still love your friends in those types of houses. I know girls who pledge and join a house they thought was right due to reputations and it was not right for them PERSONALLY... And did not even want to go to the house because they felt awkward and like they did not know anymore... It can be partly their fault for not being social enough maybe, but you do not want to end up like that just because of reps. KEEP AN OPEN MIND

I joined what people on here refer to as a "bottom house" and you know what? I love it and I loved it from the minute I walked in on the first day of recruitment. It was my first choice during recruitment--I had a full schedule every day and I even preffed houses that people on here would consider to be a lot "better," but every day I am thankful that I pledged my house because I feel comfortable there. It's my home, which is what your sorority should be. Never join based on reputation! You will just end up unhappy and will probably drop or go inactive.

I am an active. Sophomore. The ONLY advice I would give any new PNM is do not pick a house because of how "good" it was. I was lucky, I had my 1st 3 choices at pref. I thought going into the pref party that I "had" to choose one specific house bc how "good" it was considered. I walked out of pref knowing I wouldn't be happy there after the parties stopped. I wanted something more than that. I chose a different house. I never regretted it. A girl in my RhoChi group chose that "better"!house and dropped 2nd semester. She said it reminded her of high school. I love my house and I don't care what tier it's considered. Think about it before you pick a house. It's 4 years. That can be a long time if you are unhappy.
