why are there so many people from chicago here?

it can’t just be that it’s a big city bc you don’t see that many people from nyc or la. since it’s not nearby I was wondering

It's the scholarships offered. Illinois schools offer few scholarships.

The University heavily recruits students from Chicago and area suburbs.

With my automatic merit scholarship, I pay less than $4,000/year in tuition. Super cheap education option.

Plus, because so many students here are mid academically or worse, there are a ton of opportunities for top students to get internships, research experience, etc.

It's called recruiting. Bama really does well at it and has over the last 5-10 years.
