Is it bad to get a rec letter for a small number of houses and not all? Like should I just do a few or all 17/none of the 17

just get all the ones you can. they’re not the biggest deal in the world but they’re good to have. if you can’t get one for some houses don’t stress too much just try your best to have them

You need to understand that the sororities don't share recs; each one is only good for that particular house, so if you want your best shot at each sorority, try to get one rec for each. Some sororities now allow a third party rec, meaning a non-alum writer as long as they know you well. In that case, a teacher or coach or someone who could write a glowing personal rec for you could send the same one in to many different sororities.

Also, no sorority knows or cares if you get recs for other houses, they only know if they get a rec on you, or not.
