It's not just rushtok, but TikTok (and IG) in general. I have found too much emphasis in member selection is based on social media platforms. You can have an amazing girl, solid resume, and great grades just passed over because she does not play the social media game. Then, you can have another girl that knows she is coming to Bama and spends her high school years on IG and TikTok carving out this perfect little social media profile. One girl never makes it to the second round and the other goes through. Ask yourself why some girls are ripped to shreds over rushtok and others just are called "tasteful" or she did rushtok the "right" way. Ridiculous.

It goes both ways definitely. Social media isn’t going away. Wish they would pass some sort of firm rules for using it or not using it from May until bid day because it wasn’t fair that some still posted and used Rush for clout and got through fine while others couldn’t post anything for fear of being cut by everyone. Make some stupid rules and hold people accountable and be more transparent. Guessing this needs to be addressed same as dirty rushing etc.

i kind of disagree…because of Rushtok a lot of people that have no connection to greek life have come to enjoy it/see that it’s not all bad. there’s obviously downsides to social media, but rules/standards could fix that. i think there’s a lot of opportunity in social media for greek life to showcase its positive attributes (unlike this site)

I completely agree. Tell pnms they need to stay off of social media and making public posts during Rush, as well as using hash tags. Make some rules and make it clear and transparent. It’s got to be defined and communicated better going forward.
It’s become a circus.

As an active I wish there was also some guidelines for posting during work week and rush week. Cut-offs for the dates to post something and maybe limit the number of posts. Anything would be better than how it is now/
