What happens if you’re dropped completely?

by: 🤨

Do people really transfer to ole miss? Or do people just forget about it and re-rush?

Some people COB sororities that didn’t quite meet quota. COB is informal recruitment and not as intense as formal recruitment.

COB can occur in any chapter spring semester if they lost actives due to fall semester graduations, transfers, or drop outs.

If you’re dropped completely you’ll likely get a COB bid from APhi, ZTA or KD.

So ole miss used to do rush in like October. Super weird for an SEC school. So the joke always was if you didn’t like your options here just transfer to ole miss before classes start. Moms and grannies swear that used to happen but I don’t think so.

Oh also the likelihood of you being cut completely at this point is pretty slim. Not impossible but slim.
Once you make it to pref you will get a bid as long as you rank both your chapters, you’ll get a bid to one of them.

I’m a mom - so shoot me - but 25+ years ago there was a girl from my class at a Dallas high school that went to 3 colleges her freshman year: Arkansas to rush before school started (didn’t get her legacy & dropped out of rush & transferred), then to Ole Miss for mid-fall rush (didn’t get her legacy & withdrew from school), and finally she rushed at Baylor and got a bid from her legacy.

It was NUTS!!!

The Alabama to Ole Miss thing never makes any sense to me because Ole Miss is smaller & IMO their rush is way worse and their Panhellenic system is much more “tiered” where there is a big difference between a “top” and “bottom” house. If you don’t like your choices at Bama, you are really not gojng to like your choices at Ole Miss.

It happened, but they didn't transfer to Ole Miss. They go to smaller schools like UNA, USA, Jacksonville State, etc. where it's easier to get into chapters of some of the biggies here. Thing is, most of the Bama chapters are so inundated with these small-school members that they just don't affiliate anybody. You can, of course, wear your letters on campus and pretend you're in the Alabama chapter.

When Ole Miss had delayed rush I always heard it was a thing. I know some girls would go to State for only 3 sororities and transfer if they got cut. Not sure why because it’s just as competitive there with even less sororities. Ole Miss is doing rush now though (in work week) so girls can’t do it anymore.

If you get cut completely, the sun will rise, the birds will sing, and life will go on. Guaranteed.
You have options.
Check out Alpha Delta Chi (a Chrisitian sorority) or Sigma Delta Tau. They'll be doing their own recruitments soon. SDT is a full NPC sorority with a small house on the other side of campus. Both ADX and SDT have swaps and philanthropies and operate just like the larger sororities.
Or check out one of the other sororities found on the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life website.
Sign up for COB with the Panhellenic office.
E-mail the chapters you like the best and tell them you're still interested in being a member. Maybe they'll call you when somebody drops (I don't recommend doing that but hey, it worked for somebody at Auburn).
Accept a COB bid and live happily ever after. Or wait until spring and again sign up for COB.
Wait until next year and do it all again. Maybe you'll know more people on campus, can show great grades and activities.
Go find something to do other than Greek life. Week of Welcome will be here soon. There are a LOT of other activities to sign up for.
