My favorite philanthropies

by: A

Kappa- absolutely love mental health awareness. Everyone can relate one way or another to this issue. Very impactful.

Tri Delt- St Jude is a great org that helps families when they need it most.

Alpha Chi- DMV is such a great thing to support. DV is something that most times you may not even know is happening to someone you know. Great to raise awareness.

Chi O-MAW is such a fun and cute organization that puts a smile on kids faces who need just a moment to feel like they’re on top of the world. Love it

Theta- love CASA. These kids have been through such tough situations and all they want is love. This org helps them find that

Phi Mu- the childrens miracle network is super fun and cute just like Chi O’s.

KD- they have 2 which is super cool. Girl Scouts is always fun love their cookies lol. Child Abuse Prevention services like CASA is something that deals with kids who haven’t felt what love is. Great philanthropy

Personally, I love ZTA’s. I’m bias because I have family connections to Breast Cancer, but I love how they partner with the NFL and pass out ribbons on campus :)

On many other campuses Zeta's Philanthropy is the highest profile and gets the most support. It's something that every woman can relate to.

Exactly. Has such a huge impact on so many people, not just fighters and survivors but their families and friends as well.

What exactly does zta fundraise for… I know it’s bcea but like where does the money go to

by: ZTA Foundation

The money they raise goes to various causes. They fund “think pink”ribbons distributed at NFL games and college sporting events, which remind women to do monthly self exams. They fund the survivor tents at Race for a Cure events and also volunteer their time at the races. They donated half a million dollars to breast cancer research. They also fund care packages for ladies being treated for breast cancer. That’s just a little of what they do with the money they raise.

Yes yes and yes. They also partner and donate with Bright Pink

No hate because I’m sure these are great things but I feel like half a million dollars is a pretty small amount for the number of chapters and girls fundraising?? Like some other sorority nationals have said they’ve fundraised tens of millions for their philanthropies

I think it’s because they fundraise for the ZTA foundation and not directly to a charity like those other orgs might

You definitely named some of the best!

One thing I find incredible is what Tri Delt has been able to accomplish in their partnership with St Jude. There is a whole “Tri Delt” wing at the hospital!

That is very cool

The $60 million was the single largest commitment by any organization to St Jude. Amazing! Since their partnership began in 1999, they have donated over $84 million

I know DZ and DGs aren’t the flashiest philanthropies but you can tell they care about theirs so much.

Why are people downvoting this lol it’s true they don’t have big “name brand” philanthropies like make a wish or thinkpink/nfl breast cancer awareness.

The DG chapters in MS partner with a group that pays for and trains guide dogs for people that need one. I’m from MS and saw their instas about it from friends in the chapters. They have the dogs at philanthropy days for more of a connection and some ~flash.~ I think it helps them stand out among some big, nationally known philanthropies. I wish the chapter here did that!

@ bi bim bop - that’s great I didn’t realize! I’m not a PNM this year but I don’t remember them having it when I went through, though I didn’t attend their philanthropy either, but I don’t remember anyone talking about it or pictures of it.

Can someone explain the fundraising through sorority foundations?? I don’t really get that

By: Ok
by: here

A sorority's foundation supports the educational (scholarships) and philanthropic (charities) activities of a sorority. It is separate from the sorority itself but run by the sorority. The foundation raises money separately and distinctly for the sole purpose of funding the sorority's outreach programs, and no money goes to the actual the sorority itself. So if you donate to a specific charity under the foundation, there is no question of where the money goes. Same thing with a sorority housing corporation, which exists separately from a sorority but is run by the sorority for the sole purpose of building and maintaining the sorority's houses. So all these entities are run by a sorority but it keeps all the money separate for each particular purpose.

Well written but this isn’t true for every sorority. My sorority foundation is solely used for scholarships and disaster relief grants. We rarely fundraise for our foundation on a public level. We fundraise for our philanthropy completely separate from foundation so the money will go directly to it
