Should I drop out of rush?
by: confusedI know I shouldn’t be on here during rush week but I have no one to talk to about this. I got 2 houses back for philanthropy. Obviously I didn’t really see this happening and I’m not sure why. I’m very upset. The houses are nice, but not ones I see myself in. Should I see what I get back for sisterhood and try to stick it out or should I just drop. What are the odds I would get a COB? Or a snap bid? Maybe informal rush?

If you wouldn’t accept a bid from either house, why waste their time? Drop now and enjoy geed life. Luckily, there are a lot of clubs you can join and still have a great year.
Chances of Snaps are slim to none. After recruitment is over, 30 snaps troll will show up and swear KD, Aphi, Zta, Adpi, etc took a ton of snaps like she does every year, but she’s full of it and doesn’t go here. Snaps are not hugely common, and while some houses ranked lower might give out more than others, it’s not something that everyone knows, and the people who do know aren’t running to this site to tell.
COB is possible, but my house won’t consider you for COB this year if we dropped you unless you know someone or were on the bubble for our list. No idea about the other houses but it’s possible. Just don’t count on a ton of houses doing COB because the majority of us don’t.
Look, if you’re not happy, you’re just wasting the time and energy of the two houses that kept you. You’d also be taking a bid that someone else would want. I’m not even mocking or joking about dropping and looking into clubs. More people here are not in Greek houses than are, and they have a pretty fantastic time. You can still get into frat parties, meet guys, possibly get invited to formals, and all that stuff if that’s what you think you’ll miss out on.
Spend this year adjusting to college and getting good grades. Get to know girls in Greek life, and try again next year if you want to still be Greek. Absolutely no one knows how people end up with less options than they think they should have, but it happens. Luckily, it’s not the end of the world, and anyone who says otherwise is a troll or a moron.

I would say stick it out thru prefs. If you’re still not feeling it for either house, do not sign your MRABA card. If you love one, but would not accept a bid from the other, then just list the one you love on the MRABA. If it dies not work out for you this recruitment, concentrate on your grades and join a club or two that specifically have lots of sorority members and try again the the spring, or wait until next August.
