Your financial situation

by: Think About It

PNMs, please do some research about how much being part of a house is going to cost you over 4 years and how you will pay for it. My house had several pledges drop during their first semester because they couldn't pay their dues. We had more during 2nd semester too. I know that financial positions can change but don't get swept up in the recruitment hype and go through the process and accept a bid if you can't afford it. You are taking a bid from our house away from some other girl that can fulfill the financial obligations. The reality is that its more expensive to be a part of the Bama Greek system than most other universities. Don't waste our time during recruitment or your pledge year if you can't really afford it.

While you have some points here.... It is expensive. Also pnms it's perfectly fine to go in knowing you will only stay an active for a year or 2. This is my situation, I'm about to start my sophomore year and plan to drop after football season next year. Of course keep this information to your self.

Do most people only stay active for the first two years and drop after junior year?

Meh is a loser or a troll...which are synonymous. I will wait here while you google the meaning of that word.

Yet another post by an Old Row mama trying to make sure that OOR pnms aren’t given a fair chance. These are myths. OOR pnms drawn by scholarships are great for leadership, have great academics and often are tapped by the university because they have been chosen by elite honors college groups. They are on scholarships that more than offset any cost of a sorority. The more you know.

Girls should join with a 4 year commitment in mind. Most instate girls understand that. OOR girls are the problem because they don't see the long term value of it because they will move back to cities where nobody cares. It's why OR houses have such high membership numbers. Southern girls don't drop junior and senior year. This is another reason many houses get worried about offering bids to OOR girls. Nobody says it out loud but its true.

You do know that sororities exist outside of Alabama? It's true OOS girls will move back to cities where nobody cares...about ranks.

Only two chapters heavily favor in state pnms and this has nothing to do with retention goals and everything to do with their helicoptering alumnae. The truth is they have been passed up by other old row chapters who appeal to not only top in state pnms but top oor pnms, the ones who have multiple scholarships that cover all of their tuition plus even portions of their room and board. These pnms have great leadership, great academics and bring assets to their chapters and work to give back to the school and community.

Old row mamas need to stop posting on Greek Rank with their anti OOR agenda. This isn’t 2005. Let the chapters do their thing, they know what they are doing.
