hey y’all, i’m a girl who will be rushing at bama. i’ve been seeing posts about how it’s harder to get into certain sororities without connections and knowing people already in the house.
since i know absolutely nobody at bama, how do i make those connections to maximize my options or just come across well? i’m afraid that if nobody knows me and is able to speak to my character, sororities won’t take the “risk” on me although i have a good gpa and resume.

Get some help with your resume to make sure you stand out well in about a 10 second read. Make sure your photo is a good one with correct and flattering light and that your makeup and hair look good, but you still look like yourself. Same thing for your videos; make sure you pay attention to how your hair and makeup and clothes look on VIDEO, be in correct and flattering light (girls miss this a lot), and practice talking with someone via video so that you look confident, attractive, and come across as both interesting and interested in who you are talking to. It only takes one offhand gesture or facial expression to look weird or give the wrong impression.

The houses hard to get into unless you know someone are some version of high school year 5+ and most likely not for you.
Some of these houses even have reputations for shunning “fillers girls”- or girls they had to take to get to quota who are not part of the core “hometown” clique.
There is nothing “better” with respect to fun, connections, physical house, friendships, “quality” of girls, etc. from house to house. To the world at large, Bama sorority girls are collectively much more alike than different.
Yes it probably hurts really, really bad If you are from one of “those places” and get shunned by girls you know. That’s why some obsess over these things.
But If that’s not you, you are no worse, and probably better off, in a place that feels comfortable to you.
