The truth is that there are a ton of girls from California. There are a few houses such as KD and Kappa which are mainly girls from the same high schools in Alabama, which probably wouldn't interest you anyway. Enjoy the ride.

Alpha Phi sounds like it is the right house for you if you’re from CA. New Row houses are very open to girls from CA or up north. Old Row sororities are much harder to get into especially if you’re not from the south. Within Old Row there is First Circle, which is like the Old Row of Old Row. The First Circle sororities are Ti Delt, KD, and Alpha Gam. These are the most traditional and southern sororities. Still, a girl from up north or CA sneaks in sometimes if she has more traditional values and insanely good social skills or has family ties to Alabama. But yeah, New Row houses are prob where you’ll fit in best, especially Alpha Phi

Do not even worry about Old Row unless you are from Alabama. For some reason, girls get their hearts set on it because they hear "it is hard to get into". You need to go where you feel comfortable. I am from Cali and am super happy in Pi Phi. Tons of Cali girls in Zeta, AD Pi, Phi Mu and my house. My roommate is Old Row and miserable. She is from Illinois and said they have some events only for local girls (Kappa). Go into rush with an open mind.

I am an Alpha Phi and we have tons of Cali girls. My roommate is from Cali and she is ADPI who also have a bunch of Cali girls...many in Zeta and Pi Phi too. A good number in Phi Mu too. Honestly, I think there are a lot of California students at UA. Don't get set on a certain house. Go into recruitment with an open mind. Actually it is fun meeting girls and having sisters from other regions.

Hey!! I’m from California and went KD. Easily the best decision for me. Rush is a super personal experience for everyone so go in with an open mind. I love being in KD and have never felt out of place. I have friends that grew up here in Tuscaloosa, all the way to New York and Colorado. Have fun and don’t read too much on GR!
