People can say no, but to some southern girls yes they absolutely are that important. Some of these girls have thought about what house they’re gonna go since like 8th grade. It determines the next four years of your life socially and that in turn can determine the rest of your life if you plan to stay in Alabama. To say they’re “not that important” is simply not true. Especially for a girl from AL who knew she didn’t need a degree and came to college for the social aspect.

what I don’t understand is, if it’s so important won’t it just make her stand out more now that shes dropped out? like if the networking/social aspect can determine the next 4 years and even the rest of your life isnt it going to be worse because people around her hometown will just remember her as the girl who dropped out bc she was cut from rush

She would probably be someone's assistant for a couple of years and then take on more herself until she's an independent agent. It's probably the best thing for her; she didn't seem serious about the academics anyway. But she's probably just biding her time for another chance to be 'famous' so maybe she'll end up on a reality show.
