Got dropped but I feel like I shouldn’t have been
by: Cob girlSo I got dropped and I’m still really upset about it happening, especially with bid day being yesterday. I thought I had really good convos in all the houses I went to, I even had an extremely heart to heart convo in one house. They still dropped me after that around. The more I look the more I see so many girls from that certain sorority following me on social media like 15+. I’m so confused on why I got dropped. I don’t want to be that person but I feel as if they didn’t mean to drop me but idk. Do you think I’m able to cob and get them? Or should I just stop with this whole green life and do something else?

i really hate this for you and hate that this is more common than it should be. depending on the hous, i would definitely try to cob and if not - its definitely okay to rush as a sophmore. u will find a fantastic group of friends and network for next years rush! good luck!

I'm so sorry, I know how bad this hurts. I'm sure the girl at AOII you had a heart to heart with loved you but it came down to a numbers game and you unfortunately got the short end of the stick.
I would 100% look into COB for AOII, as well as for DZ, Theta, and DG as these are all similar houses you would probably like if you liked AOII. Keep pushing, there is truly a place for everyone and if you want it bad enough I know you can make it work out for you
AOII would be lucky to have someone who felt so connected there.

Alright cheer up sister here's the real tea!! The Panhellenic recruitment system is actually designed to maximize the amount of girls in every house. The NPC goal is for every house on each campus have roughly the same amount of girls (and bring in $$$ lol). Panhellenic WANTS every house to be thriving and at campus total, which is why COB exists for girls who it didn't work out for during formal recruitment.
It actually happens a lot that great girls slip through the cracks, but that DOESN'T mean those girls are losers who don't deserve to be in a sorority. This is why COB exists and why you're allowed to still do it even if every house dropped you during formal, so that girls who are truly serious about joining a house can.
That being said, PLEASE contact your Rho Chi or Panhel and look into COB for AOPi and any others you were interested in. My guess is they liked you but it logistically didn't work out, but there's definitely a chance they would love to have you now. Take it.

Hi ok I'm actually an AOII at another school and I've never looked at Alabama's page before now or posted on this site before, and yet I stumbled on this post and I feel like I need to comment a story.
One of my now best friends was dropped by every sorority during formal rush. She is in the exact same situation as you, she loved AOII and was devastated that she was dropped before pref. After bid day she reached out to Panhel to see about COBing AOII and she was able to! She joined my Pledge Class a few days after bid day, and I heard our advisors and older girls tell her that they loved her during rush and didn't even understand why she was dropped.
I would never normally comment on this site at all, let alone on a school I don't even go to, but this just seemed like too much of coincidence so I had to say something. Please keep going, you got this!!

I am not sure who made quota, but AOII makes quota every year that I am aware of at least for the last 4 years. I know cuts were steep this year, and some houses dropped large numbers early and might have some space. I know that is what happened to KD last year. If so, I would think that if a house had space, they might only have a few spots, but it would be worth looking into. I know that DZ, DG, PBP, and ADII sometimes have spots as well. Good luck!
