Any new sororities
by: PNMAre there any new sororities planned to be established at Bama in the near future?

Tbh I feel like Bama has all of the strongest national sororities already. SK is okay nationally in that they have a decent amount of chapters and members, but still aren't nearly as prominent as all the other ones. I just can't see an NPC chapter like Alpha Sigma Alpha, Theta Phi Alpha, etc being here.
(No shade to those orgs, I'm sure they have great chapters but they're just very small)

In order for a sorority to be successful at UA (or similar large state school), the sorority must be able to fund the building of large, expensive house. It is the expectation of young women who go through recruitment that every house will have one. The problem with most of the NPC sororities not on campus is that they don't have the financial resources to build such a house. Most of them are at smaller schools where chapter sizes are smaller. Smaller chapter sizes mean fewer members paying dues and fewer alumnae funding endowments. Also the groups not on campus in general are the younger NPC groups, again contributing to a smaller alumnae base compared to the groups on campus which are in general older organizations. When these smaller groups try to compete with larger ones at large state schools, they do not tend to do well. For example, ASA has chapters at Arizona and Indiana, and the chapters tend to struggle in recruitment as they are unhoused unlike the other sororities on campus.
I think another point someone made above is valid. Some of the groups not on campus tend to have chapters which are concentrated in geographic areas not in the Southeast. That can be a factor in that there are often fewer alumnae in the area to provide hands-on support to a large chapter such as the ones at UA. When a chapter is starting out, the need for alumnae support is greatest, and not having that support can be detrimental. If there were a large city like Atlanta nearby which draws people from all over the country, that might help, but there really isn't that kind of city near campus.
Of the sororities not on campus, AXiD would be the most likely to come as it is the most similar to the ones already on campus. That said, they might not be willing to take the financial risk of establishing a new chapter considering their prior history. I think the success of SK may factor into things, as their history is similar to Alpha Xi's. Even if UA were to open to extension, some of the remaining NPC would not submit an application for consideration because of the factors I listed above.

Alpha Xi is planning to colonize at UGA in the fall, so maybe they're using this as a litmus test to see if they can do well at SEC school where reputation is set in stone and rush is competitive. I know SK is getting a house soon so the swing house will be open. Either SDT needs to reorganize or numbers need to keep going up for them to open up for extension.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but AZD is atrocious nationally. You would be lucky to break that legacy status. DG is fine here and decent nationally, so if you’re set on being a legacy, go DG. But don’t hold yourself hostage to being a legacy somewhere. Chart your own course!
