dropping sororities?
by: questionhow common is it to drop your sorority after freshman or sophomore year? not for any bad reason but just because you already have your group and it’s so much of an extra cost? also is there a stigma against that type of thing after it happens (obviously i’m not gonna go in planning on dropping i just want to know what it would be like if i decided to drop?

tbh in my sorority there is like maybe a 25% chance you’ll drop after freshman year. it’s common enough bc as you get older the extra costs don’t feel as worthwhile and the rules/standards get very annoying and old very fast.
“stigma-wise” it really depends on how you left your relationships with the rest of your chapter, your exec, and even the rest of greek life. half the people that drop will not touch greek life with a stick bc they realized how much it wasn’t for them. the other half still have lots of connections with other sorority members and frats and will show out when it’s not weird for someone who dropped to be there, you’ll definitely see them at frat parties
