truth about legacy status

Being a legacy will not get you in. Although it’s true that many houses do favor legacies, legacy status only holds weight if you’re a direct legacy (aka legacy to that specific chapter) and even more if you have an older sister as an active. If you’re not a direct legacy, it might only get you to philanthropy (but being a direct legacy might still not get you in). don’t expect any house because you’re a legacy.

i'm a double legacy for tri delt and was dropped after open house but i did have an in house sister in a different sorority but i definitely don't have 3 eyes and i'm not 300 pounds lmao

nowadays in all the larger sororities you have to be a direct bloodline, XO only considered you a legacy if your mother or sister is a XO, not including grandmothers.

the actives will tend to rank a legacy they like above an non-legacy they like the same to appease alums. being a legacy is almost always a bonus.

Being a legacy is super helpful if your sister is a current active. That's about it tho

It does ensure you don't slip through the cracks and get overlooked for that house. You'll definitely be given a chance before being cut. But from there it's all about if the girls truly think you'll fit in, just like every other PNM.
